By car from Ålesund:
- Take the E39 towards Bergen / Ørsta / Solavåg
- Ferry Solavåg - Festøy
- When leaving the ferry turn left - most of the cars will turn right to Ørsta... do not follow them!
- Drive for about 15km on this scenic road along the fjord to Standal
- At Standal the road turns away from the fjord and heads into the mountains. After 4,5 km you are at Standaleidet.
By car from Ørsta:
- Take the E655 towards Sæbø.
- Turn left after crossing a bridge, follow the sign “Follestaddalen”.
- Turn right just before you come to an other bridge where there is a sign to Standal. Follow this.
- On the way, you will pass by some very scenic areas. Standalhytta (Standal Ski Lodge) is located about halfway to Storestandal on this road. Here you can purchase light refreshments, including the famous Norwegian porridge
- When You reach the fjord on the other side You are at Standal.
By Ferry from Leknes (via Øye):
- From the E60 between Stranda and Stryn, take the E665 in the direction of Øye
- While passing through Øye, you MUST check out the Union Hotel, a very famous landmark in Norway. Then Continue driving on to Leknes
- Ferry - Leknes to Standal
- Alternatively: Ferry Leknes to Sæbø (ferry also stops at Skår and Trandal). Drive towards Ørsta. At the highest point of this road you will pass the Bondalseidet Alpine Center. Turn right just before you come to a bridge, sign “Follestaddalen”. Continue as described above under “By car from Ørsta”
